This analysis monitors the operations carried out by the Islamic State’s military organization in a number of countries over a month period. The analysis was based on compiling statistical information published in the weekly Al-Nabaa newspaper during the month of August, and analyzing some of the press releases published by the organization during a specific period of the month. The organization’s military activity in cities and provinces, combating developing countries, is clearly evident. In most cases, it is impossible to verify the accuracy of the organization’s military statements.
However, it can be said that the statistics, based on a large number of deficiencies and human resources, are very close to the truth. For this reason, the figures are inflated for the remainder of the organization’s operations. This is normal for armed groups. Therefore, these figures can be used to infer the organization’s effectiveness and the extent of its global spread from the indicators we compile. We limited our sample from the weekly Al-Naba’ register to five registers during the month of August 2025, starting with issue No. (506) and ending with issue No. (510).
The following table and chart show statistics on the number of attacks and their victims in countries and cities that have witnessed military and security activity by “IS”:
Statistical Analysis Report on Attacks, Deaths, and Injuries by Region
This report reviews data on attacks, deaths, and injuries distributed across several regions and countries. The figures refer to geographic areas extending from the Middle East to Africa, Central Asia, and the Indian subcontinent. Based on the given table, the figures will be analyzed, comparing different regions in terms of the number of attacks and casualties, and drawing key conclusions.
Iraq witnessed three attacks, one of which resulted in no casualties, and two attacks in which (8) people were killed. An explosive device was detonated on a joint Iraqi Army and Popular Mobilization Forces patrol in the village of Matajat in the Hatra area, killing a civilian whom ISIS accused of working as an intelligence agent for the Iraqi forces.
In Syria, the organization continues to target the SDF forces through operations directed against them in Deir ez-Zor and its countryside. The military campaign targeting these forces continues, and 38 people were killed in attacks during the month, resulting from 24 attacks. It is noteworthy that the number of attacks and victims of these attacks increased significantly for the organization, with most of the attacks concentrated in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, and Hasaka. Al-Nabaa newspaper, in its issue No. (507), published statistics on the number of operations during the month in areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces, which amounted to approximately (22) military operations, resulting in the deaths of (43) people. The Israeli intervention in Syria after the Hikmat al-Hijri rebellion remains the most dangerous event for Syria’s security and stability, and the greatest challenge facing the new government, especially since the Israeli demand seeks to create a demilitarized zone in southern Syria, without referring to ending the occupation. This means that it embodies a de facto policy of its presence in Syrian territory as well as in Lebanese territory, and its ultimate goal is to divide Syria on a sectarian basis, by supporting the existence of a Druze federation and a Kurdish federation, to enshrine the concept of the “David’s Corridor” from the Golan Heights, passing through Daraa, Sweida, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, and ending with Sulaymaniyah and Erbil.
In West Africa, the organization carried out several attacks, most of them in the town of “Bita” in the “Borno” region and “Maroua” in northern Cameroon, targeting government forces in both countries as well as the armed militias supporting those forces. These attacks amounted to approximately (18) attacks, resulting in the killing and wounding of (38) people, and the destruction and damage of several vehicles and motorcycles.
In Central Africa, in the town of “Komanda” in the (Ituri) region of northern Congo, the organization carried out an attack on Congolese forces, and several other attacks, amounting to (19) attacks, resulting in the killing and wounding of approximately (151) people. These attacks are the most violent and highest in months in Central Africa, and they have the highest number of victims among the countries targeted by the organization. The organization carried out several attacks in northern Mozambique, specifically in the “Chiure” region, targeting elements of the Mozambican army and pro-government popular militias, in the south of the “Cabo Delgado” region, in the (Muidumbe) region, during which it carried out (22) attacks, resulting in the killing and wounding of (39) people.
In the Sahel region, the organization carried out several attacks in Niger and Burkina Faso. Its members attacked a military patrol in the Ouallam region of the Tillaberi region, as well as armed militias supporting government forces. It also targeted members of the Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM) organization stationed in the Tigo region of the town of Dori, northern Burkina Faso. The organization also attacked a Burkinabe military patrol near the town of Gorom-Gorom, east of the country, in the village of Beliata.
The total number of attacks in the Sahel region reached approximately (6), resulting in the deaths and injuries of (135) people.
In Afghanistan, members of the organization clashed with a Taliban patrol in Dara Noor, Nangarhar province, as the patrol attempted to arrest these members. One person was killed and another was wounded in the confrontation. The organization members managed to flee the scene, and a person accused by the organization of collaborating with government security forces was killed in the Kama region, also in Nangarhar. This operation is the first in months. No operations have taken place during the past three months.
In Pakistan, the organization carried out an attack that resulted in the killing and wounding of (16) government forces. Members of the organization planned an ambush for a Pakistani military patrol using a three-wheeled explosives-laden vehicle parked on the side of the road as the patrol passed through the village of “Anayat Kali” in the border region of “Bajaur.” The vehicle detonated as the patrol passed, killing and wounding approximately (16) people, and damaging two military trucks.
In Somalia, the organization carried out several attacks targeting government forces in Puntland, in the northeast of the country, near the village of Jis Qabad in the Bari region. The attacks involved (3) attacks, resulting in the deaths and injuries of approximately (53) people. Government forces in Puntland are facing violent attacks in areas where ISIS elements are present, in the Al Masqad Mountains, despite the ongoing military campaign against the organization for more than nine months.
A statistical report on the extent of human and material losses resulting from ISIS operations worldwide:
The organization killed (281) people it describes as apostates and infidels, (190) Crusaders (by which it refers to non-Muslims), and (12) Shiites in Iraq.
A significant increase in the number of deaths and injuries, as well as the number of losses resulting from attacks carried out by the organization during July, was noted compared to the previous three months. ISIS destroyed and damaged (28) vehicles, (15) various vehicles, (11) four-wheel drive vehicles, and two military armored vehicles. ISIS also burned (7) military bases, while (77) homes were burned, in contrast to last month, which did not witness any burning of homes. (6) vehicles were seized.
